The popularity of the show in reruns eventually brought about its resurrection as one of the large media franchises. Fans have not only kept this series alive after it was nearly canceled after its second season, but also kept it going through many years where there was no new material with their production of fanworks, their organization of conventions and their devotion to their fandom. It has a very active fanbase that started from nearly the moment the show debuted and still flourishes today. Star Trek: The Original Series originally ran for three seasons on television. Recently the official website released a video explaining the Star Trek timeline. The argument of approved-Roddenberry canon is also argued against by the fact that Roddenberry notoriously changed canon on an episode-by-episode basis. This would include all Star Trek media after his death in 1991: six movies, the nearly half of The Next Generation's episodes of which Roddenberry was not involved in, and every season of all proceeding three TV series, with the exception of the first season of Deep Space Nine, which Roddenberry, while not involved in the writing process, gave his approval on. In contrast, it is a good rule to say that all TV episodes (with the exception of the aforementioned animated series) as well as all movies are canon, although some argue that all content that was not specifically "Roddenberry-approved" is not canon. Some things are almost universally agreed upon, such as the non-canon status of the various novelizations and the animated series, both of which were decided by Gene Roddenberry. Star Trek's canon has been a matter of some debate for the Star Trek fandom. Trek became the first fanzine-based media fandom, and Kirk/Spock, of course, the first publicly acknowledged slash pairing, and the source of the word 'slash' (and 'pairing') itself. There were other sources before it that had appealed strongly to women and young adults, especially Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, The Saint, Secret Agent, The Avengers (TV), Route 66, The Wild Wild West, The Prisoner and The Man From U.N.C.L.E., but Star Trek had a massive impact on fandom. While Mars is the planet that prompts the desire to fight and conquer, Pluto is the planet that rules the cycle of death and rebirth and signifies transformation. Mars signifies the rulership in ancient astrology whereas Pluto comes from modern astrology, but many astrologers use both in their readings. "The Scorpionic energy is really hard to master and the reason why is because Scorpio is not only ruled by one, but two planets," she says, and the most intense planets at that: Mars and Pluto. Scorpios are marked by their intensity, Montúfar tells me. Luckily astrologer Narayana Montúfar, a Scorpio herself, is here to dispel some myths and talk about the complexity and depth of Scorpio placements. Known as one of the more polarizing Zodiac signs, Scorpios are often misunderstood. The sign's rein starts in the final days of October and covers just about all of the following month. Your joys, wishes, flaws, and fears make you special and, when your sun sign is combined with the other planets and placements in your birth chart, it creates a distinctive celestial profile that serves as your cosmic fingerprint.November is the month of the Scorpio. This astrological placement sheds light on your innate gifts, as well as your hard-to-see blind spots. Your sun sign is determined by your date of birth and represents your core personality, sense of self, basic preferences, romantic compatibility, and ways in which you move through the world. (Your Rising Sign is another very important placement, and you can read about it in our guide to rising signs here). The position the Sun occupied at your exact moment of birth is known as your "sun sign" (sometimes referred to as "star sign" or "birth sign"), and it's the cosmic launching pad for both beginners and professional astrologers. We can depend on its daily performance (including inspiring sunrises and dramatic sunsets), as well as its location in the sky. But from our vantage here on planet Earth, the Sun is in constant motion. Every sign is illuminated by its own point of view, complete with powerful strengths and exhausting weaknesses.įrom an astronomical perspective, we know that the Sun doesn't move, as its stability anchors the entire solar system. Over the centuries, each sign has developed its own associations - including myths, animals, and colors - and its own characteristics. Although astrology is an extremely complex study, the most fundamental principle of astrology centers on the 12 familiar star signs of the zodiac. The four elements - air signs, fire signs, water signs, earth signs - all work together to create a comprehensive whole, which shows up in your life as your unique personality traits. Every sign is a powerful, vital piece in the puzzle that is the zodiac. The trade off I suppose is that while the private groups were having their special dinners outside on the patio, it took them away from the restaurants and made those more available for us.Visiting Cabo San Lucas? Don’t miss these awesome activities!Ĭabo is located at the end of the Baja peninsula and is now the fastest growing resort destination in all of Mexico. Another time we couldn't get a drink at the beach bar and 15 minutes later they were hosting a private party there and serving drinks to those guests. We were a little put off by not being able to use all of the pool area for several days when a corporate group was a having a function, however they did set up some extra chairs for us on the lawn beside the pool. The beach is beautiful to look at and walk on, but the water is too rough for swimming. There is an elevator that eliminates about 40 of the steps to go from the pool to the main lobby and you can walk all the way to the end of bldg 2 to get another elevator to the upper floors of the rooms. While the resort is a nice size for us (everything was within a fairly easy walk, there were a lot of stairs to get from the pool level to our room on the second floor in building 2. they were hard to see when swimming close to them and I had some close calls almost bumping into them. It had palm trees throughout at each end that were surrounded with circular rough concrete sitting areas under the water. The 1 main pool was large but not very attractive as it was a concrete colour and that made the water look dark and not inviting. We enjoyed the food at all of the restaurants and reservations were not required or allowed (except for the Privilege Club members. We had no problem getting into the restaurants (30 minute wait max). I don't know if they cleaned the exercise mats, but it didn't appear so and it was difficult to clean them yourself as they only had disposable wipes that were awkward to use on a soft mat. It would better if they replaced the aging, brittle exercise balls and added some foam rollers. It had a good assortment of free weights and weight machines. The fitness center was mostly well equipped with Life Fitness equipment including 1 upright bike, 1 recumbent bike, several ellipticals, steppers and treadmills. We enjoyed the trip to San Jose and felt very safe walking the streets there and enjoying some local culture and the art festival that was taking place in the town square that was a mix of tourists and locals. For $15 they had a mini bus tour to San Jose twice a week. It was a 10-15 car ride into San Jose and 45 minutes to San Lucas. The resort is fairly isolated outside of San Jose. The food was very good and the staff were without exception helpful and professional. Not a spring break place but plenty of lively people enjoying the facilities. It had a nice mix of people from different ages. Secrets in Cabo is a very nice all-inclusive adult resort. Thanks Cabo for your amazing views, hot weather and beautiful beaches!! We loved our holiday and the experience but will likely try another destination in the future. Cabo is an expensive area, it seemed that the expectation was these tourists are loaded, so let's charge them the $$$$ we can. The security keeps tabs on you with your comings and goings, added comfort! No limit on the cocktails, very tasty! Wine list was pricy considering the closeness to California, this was disappointing. The resort is gated so we felt very safe. Staff are constantly cleaning everything, you will notice that. the food in the restaurants was good to excellent. We heard from others who attended the sales pitch (breakfast), that is how you get the discounted excursion pricing that the "investment" is $15000 US! We paid full price for the snorkeling trip which was wonderful but we did not like the bait and switch that seemed to be constant. It took me a while before the lights came on, they were pitching a " membership" to Hyatt Resorts. Different "concierge", different pitch, different pricing. The next morning we were ready to book our excursions. For example $500 per couple for a snorkeling excursion but we can offer this at $100 per couple. They pitch excursions and suggest over priced costs then offer a "deal". It seemed this is done on purpose to allow "concierge" staff to help you organize your stay. Unfortunately, check in is not until 3 pm. Staff are friendly and are ready to help where they can. Hotel arrival area is vast and beautiful. You will arrive after a short 45 minute trip from the airport. It's relatively expensive, but with PDFs essential to this workflow it is well worth it. But when doing a mock-up I noticed that I'll need them anyway. Initially I thought I wouldn't need them to install the fins and filled and sanded them. As I couldn't find any picture showing the FXX-K's diffusor in carbon, I decided to make life easy and paint everything in a light black.įirst I had to re-engrave the grooves for the two most inner fins. The diffusor is sanded, primered and painted now. The FXXK is on my build list, but the carbon fibre decal work is scaring me off a little. I can tell this is going to be another epic build. Now I'm not sure anymore whether I should use carbon decals or only paint it black. I already cut the stencils for the carbon decals, but when I looked at pictures of the original car, I only saw a satin black diffusor. I hope that next time I have finished sanding the diffusor and that I found out whether the diffusor is made out of carbon or not. Once this is finished, all the sanding of the body parts should be completed and I should be able to start priming and painting them. That's why I'm still sanding and filling, but it seems to come to an end as well. So I had to close the end of the groove and rescribe it. On the rear end it was about 1 mm too much on the right side. When doing a mock up with the PE fins I noticed that I made a mistake at the leftmost groove. Especially as this was the first time I tried this technique to fill the seams. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. On the left side you can see the final result after sanding and polishing, on the right side you see how it looked after letting it sit and cure for a few days.Īnd that's how the bonnet looks now. The join lines on the bonnet have been filled the same way I used on the diffusor. The outsides of the doors have been assembled and sanded smooth Some scratches have been filled with some sanding dust and Tamiya Cement. Then the fins from the kit part have been removed to add the fins from the PE set afterwards. As this is a Tamiya kit I wasn't really surprised that everything seems to be fine so far □ First of all a mock up to see if everything fits. Work continued, although in small steps only. |
